After Dark is a photo poem about life in the park at night. The book is an exploration of how it feels to accept our fear of the dark, while being adopted by the creatures who inhabit it. What starts out as a quest to photograph a bat, on the bat’s terms, becomes a metaphor for accepting the darkness, of all kinds, that exists both in and around us.
This book inverts our expectations of the night. It captures what it means to discover that the night isn’t black after all, and that foxes sometimes follow us to make sure we get home safely.
